Why We Are Going to West Africa

In West Africa, mobile is critical for millions to access life enhancing services and solutions that directly appeal to local interests and cultures. With 175 million unique subscribers – accounting for 320 million mobile connections – mobile is the leading platform for creating, distributing and consuming innovative digital solutions and services across the sub-region.

As one of the fastest growing mobile markets globally, holding Mobile 360 Series – West Africa allows us to bring together important stakeholders from both the public and private sectors to realise the full potential of mobile across West Africa, driving innovation and services that help achieve the UNs Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

We aim to address the economics of rural deployment and how policies need to build confidence and encourage long term private investment in the digital economy. We will discuss how mobile can continue leading the development of life enhancing services, highlighting the positive impact it has on economic growth and inclusion. We once again tackle the digital divide, highlighting recent industry successes in delivering social impactful services and the effect it has on rural families and small and micro businesses.

By bringing together the right stakeholders encompassing Mobile Network Operators, agriculture, energy, health, infrastructure, finance, local start-ups, and more, we enable partnerships to provide more people access to the Internet and life enhancing online apps and content such as mobile money and energy services.

For these reasons, it is vitally important we are going to Abidjan on 27 April, and we hope you join us on our mission. Learn More.
